Dalia Al-Aqidi Calls for Calm Amid Minneapolis Unrest: “Choose Calm Over Chaos”
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 26, 2026
Minneapolis, MN — Dalia Al-Aqidi, candidate for U.S. Congress in Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District, released the following statement today as unrest continues in Minneapolis:
“Minneapolis is being tested, and it’s time for leaders and communities across the Twin Cities to find the courage to chart a better way forward,” Al-Aqidi said. “Chaos is not compassion. Chaos is how people get hurt.”
Recent changes in Border Patrol leadership and dialogue between the White House, Governor Tim Walz, and Mayor Jacob Frey signal an opportunity to reset. Al-Aqidi emphasized the need to reject chaos as a strategy, support lawful enforcement, and ensure the removal of criminal illegal aliens with active warrants.
She also called for an independent and impartial investigation into the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, urging accountability for anyone who used the situation to harm others or inflame tensions.
“I grew up under the brutal regime of Saddam Hussein,” Al-Aqidi said. “I know what life looks like under a dictatorship and what happens when order collapses afterward. Minneapolis must not be pushed further down that road. This city can still turn the corner.”
Al-Aqidi said she is running to help chart a safer, smarter path forward for Minneapolis and the surrounding areas, because there is a better way and it’s time to demand it.
