Dalia al-Aqidi Speaks Out on Israel, Hamas, and the Fight for Minnesota’s Fifth District
Congressional candidate Dalia al-Aqidi joined Fox News host Trey Gowdy this weekend to make her case to voters — and to draw a sharp contrast with the incumbent she hopes to unseat, Representative Ilhan Omar.
Al-Aqidi, who is challenging Omar for Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District, spoke from Israel, where she had traveled to express solidarity with the Israeli people in the wake of the October 7th Hamas attacks.
“I came to Israel from ground zero of anti-semitism in the United States,” al-Aqidi told Gowdy. “I came here to represent the good people of the fifth district, the good people of Minnesota — that we are not supporters of terrorists like Hamas.”
Al-Aqidi revealed that she had recently viewed a 45-minute video documenting the atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7th — footage that, due to its graphic nature, has not been shown publicly. “I’ve seen terrible, terrible scenes that the public hasn’t seen yet,” she said. “It’s sickening. It’s sad that we have lawmakers and politicians that support these bloodthirsty killers.”
When asked about Omar’s criticism of US military aid to Israel, including funding for the Iron Dome missile defense system, al-Aqidi was unequivocal. She argued that Omar’s record on social media and in Congress speaks for itself, and called on Americans to unite against what she described as “toxic politicians” who cannot “differentiate between good and evil.”
“That’s why I wanted to come to Israel,” al-Aqidi said, “to tell the Israelis that we Americans are with you. We are not represented by the few.”
Al-Aqidi emphasized that her campaign is about far more than a single issue, and that she looks forward to bringing her voice to topics including education and the broader concerns of Fifth District constituents.
