From Refugee to Fighter for Freedom: Dalia al-Aqidi’s Journey

Escaping Oppression: A Childhood in Crisis

“I’ve come a long way from where I started,” says Dalia al-Aqidi. As a young girl, she and her mother fled their homeland, a country ruled by a brutal dictator. The promise of government protection proved to be a cynical lie, giving way instead to oppression, war, and mass murder. Seeking safety and opportunity, they found refuge in the United States—a nation celebrated for standing up to tyrants and fostering human freedom.

From Fear to Purpose: A Life Dedicated to Justice

Dalia al-Aqidi’s journey from refugee to journalist has taken her from global war zones to the halls of the White House. She transformed from a frightened child into a determined advocate against oppression, wherever it occurs. Yet she warns that threats are not always distant: “In our own Congress, agents of anger and discord are tearing at America from within. It’s time for us to impeach this president,” she declares.

A Contrast in Values: The Ilhan Omar Divide

While Dalia al-Aqidi and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar share identities as Muslim women and refugees, their values could not be more different. Dalia al-Aqidi criticizes Omar for fostering division and defending those who threaten American lives, contrasting this with President Trump’s decisive action against terrorist Qasem Soleimani, responsible for the deaths of American soldiers and innocent civilians. For Dalia al-Aqidi, the stakes are personal. “I was so proud my country, my president removed such an evil from the world.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 25, 2026

Minneapolis, MN — When President Trump asked every member of Congress who puts American citizens first to stand up Tuesday night, Ilhan Omar remained seated. Dalia Al-Aqidi, Republican candidate for Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, criticized Omar’s inaction and the state of Minneapolis under current leadership.

“Minnesota was once again the poster child for everything broken about immigration, accountability, and leadership in this country,” Al-Aqidi said. “A city once celebrated as one of the best places in America to live is now synonymous with fraud, corruption, and cover-up.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 12, 2026

Minneapolis, MN — Dalia Al-Aqidi, candidate for Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District, today sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi expressing serious concern about voter roll irregularities in Hennepin County and thanking the Department of Justice for its efforts to review Minnesota’s voter registration rolls for federal compliance.

The letter follows revelations this week by Rep. Pam Altendorf, Vice Chair of the MN House Elections Committee, that a review of Hennepin County’s voter file identified approximately 3,000 records with missing information, potential duplicate entries, and a precinct in which roughly 21 percent of ballots were challenged.

“These findings raise serious questions about how our elections are being administered and whether voter rolls are being properly maintained,” Al-Aqidi wrote. “When thousands of records are incomplete or questionable, the system that maintains them must be thoroughly reviewed to restore trust in the voting process.”
